Chicago Baseball Trip, September 2010

My dad has been to most ballparks in the country but had never been to Wrigley Field in Chicago, our countries second oldest park. It was built in 1914 and the Cubs moved in in 1916. Fenway park in Boston is the oldest park, built in 1912. The park features one of the last manually operated scoreboards (added in 1937) where workers update the scores and statictics by removing and replacing the large painted numbers.

Many years ago, my dad narrowly missed an opportunity to see a game at Wrigley Field. He was visiting Chicago on a business trip and had tickets to a game. Tragically the game was rained out and he could not stay for a later game. His goal was finally achieved September 22, 2010, when he was finally able to see the Cubs play on their home field. The Cubs were kind enough to win the game 2-0.
